Information on Pyrmont, New South Wales
Pyrmont is another local inner city suburb in Sydney located within Sydney’s state, New South Wales. About 2 km south-west of Sydney Central Business District within the local government region that is part of Sydney’s City of Sydney. It also forms part of Sydney’s Darling Harbour region and has many cultural venues with things to see and do.
Commercial zones
The Star casino is the most prominent feature of The Darling Harbour waterfront of Pyrmont and the Sydney Fish Market is situated at Blackwattle Bay. Jacksons Landing is an commercial and residential property development that is located in the northern end of the peninsula.
The Sydney Fish Market redevelopment is underway and interestingly be moved 100m west and out of Pyrmont into Glebe.
Transport
Pyrmont is connected to the city via it’s Pyrmont Bridge that is which is a swing bridge that can be used by cyclists and pedestrians. It is connected to the city by the Western Distributor passes through the suburb and offers connections to the city and connects to Pyrmont’s North Shore via the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The Distributor also includes Sydney’s Anzac Bridge, an enormous Cable-stayed bridge which spans Johnstons Bay between Pyrmont and Rozelle. The bridge was built to replace the Glebe Island Bridge. It has been suggested many times that the Glebe Island Bridge be made operational just for pedestrian and cyclist. This has not gained much support from the State Government, yet.
The Inner West Light Rail comprises four light rail stations in the suburb of Pyrmont Bay, The Star, John Street Square and Fish Market. It is located at the Pyrmont Bay Ferry wharf is serviced with Cross Harbour ferry services. Pyrmont is accessible by bus.
Pyrmont Park is situated at the northern part of the peninsula. It overlooks Balmain East, and extends to the south, along the coast to the start of Harris street. This has a great views back on to the Sydney Harbour Bridge for fireworks viewing, its a great place for community street fairs events. The park provides great backdrops for wedding and portrait shoots.
