“We had a great experience with Orlando when he did the photos for our wedding, he was really flexible and responsive, and we had fun with a pre-wedding shoot. On the night itself, he captured those great spontaneous moments, but also the formal set shots that we wanted. Best of all, he wasn’t intrusive or domineering. Orlando’s manner really suited the informal and fun atmosphere that we wanted. He was great to work with, and we thoroughly recommend him!”
Ben and David (Inner Sydney)

“Orlando Sydney recently photographed our wedding at the Anchorage Resort, we’re very happy with the photos and service”

Types of Weddings in the Sydney City area
Our favourite types tend to be outdoor wedding ceremonies but indoor reception or function rooms can be even better when they have at least one outdoor space such as a balcony, rooftop or a small garden that is accessible. How nice, best of both worlds for you and your guests.
Unique Local Outdoor Ceremony Venues and Locations
Sydney city and harbour areas have so much to offer for the wedding ceremony and reception in alfresco style.
Botanic Gardens are definitely one of the more picturesque and memorable places if you have the budget. Perfect for small weddings.
Centennial Park is another much loved space to exchange your vows and celebrate. One of our favourites to photograph at and more affordable than Botanic Gardens.
In Centennial Parklands for example; small weddings or elopements are perfect at the Paperbark grove north, She-oak grove, One more shot pond, Busbys promontory, Rose garden, Column garden, Between willow & duck ponds, Between lily & duck ponds, Church grounds, Pine grove or at the Homestead Function Centre if the wedding party is not so small.
Permits and extra park fees apply however it’s another unique place to be surrounded by nature and have a relaxing wedding.
Outdoor marquee weddings are also sweet and cosy so worth your consideration.
Couples Pre Wedding Portraits
Couple portraits is a time just for you two, the wedding couple. Not for the parents, nor for the wonderful friends and guests that will be at the wedding party and ceremony. This is a very important pre wedding shoot to program in your diary.
This is your time to relax, enjoy each other’s company, and perhaps play up a little for the camera if you’re feeling a little bit cheeky and fun.
Couple shoots outdoors in nature is such a great place to share conversations with your partner that will add more glue to a lifetime of deep friendship. The couples photo shoot will provide a reference point in the evolving journey you will have together.
If you resonate with natural, earthy, uncomplicated, modern and personable, we’ll be the perfect wedding photographers for you.
We’re relaxed, creative, fun and professional. Get in touch for an obligation free conversation.

Affordable Sydney Wedding Photography
We’ve had the great pleasure of photographing many small, intimate weddings. Some alternative wedding venues have been on rural properties, Centennial Park Rose Garden, marquees and an outdoor decking area at their parents home. Small weddings packages are much easier to understand and affordable. Less fuss and stress, more love and lots of those warm fuzzy feelings.
Whatever the size of wedding, the couple and the professional photographer should get to know each other; over a few emails, phone calls or, better still, in person. Connection between photographer and wedding couple should be high on any check list.
How much does a small wedding cost in Sydney?
A small wedding in Sydney cost from $1280 to $4280 for photography.

Wedding Photography FAQ
How will the wedding photos look?
Orlando Sydney’s editing is done in house, not farmed out overseas, and is absolutely without using the cliché Instagram like textures or tones. Our processing style is contemporary, natural and clean of un-natural over processing. It also has more of an editorial style rather than others with that ‘dreamy out of focus’ look. This is an important distinction as processing and curating plays a big part in the look and feel of your photo album.
Have a look through the wedding photo gallery above. These photos have been chosen to give you a good idea on what your photos will look like in various lighting conditions. It also shows the very different types of small weddings we photograph. We love diversity.
What is an intimate or small wedding anyway?
Our Definition of an Intimate Wedding
We define a small wedding as having your close friends and family attending.
So who is getting married?
There were 119,188 marriages in Australia; increased by 6,234 (5.5%) from the previous year. The median marriage age was 32.4 years for males and 30.5 years for females. How does this compare to your friends and family?
Another very interesting fact is that 79.7% of males and 81.0% of females got married for the first time. And the most popular way to be married in four out of five (79.7%) marriages was by a civil celebrant.
And the long awaited statistics on same-sex marriages in Australia is available after it became legal, geez, finally our federal government caught up. Same sex marriages are 5.5% of all weddings; that’s 6,538 very happy couples. The girls in same-sex relationships make up nearly 60% of same-sex marriages. Same-sex couples tend to get married a little older than the hetero’s, being around 40 years old and up. Source
Are there print packages bundled together?
We love it when our photos live in print. Any included prints are as listed in the packages above. If not indicated, we can however add a variety of print options. The prices will be very sharp if booked prior to your big day, for weddings within 6 months of booking.
Any second shooters?
For small weddings second shooters are often not required except when the photographers need to be at two location, for example; one of the couple is getting ready at a different location to the other. Talk to us about your plans for the day and we’ll either allocate one of our trusted second photographers or otherwise.
Do hi res files costs more?
All our jpgs are clean of watermarks and supplied in hi resolution at no extra cost.
How many photos will I get?
There are no limits on the amount of photos. The actual quantity varies with length of time, how many people and the variety of activities. We always capture more on the day than is required to tell your story for the mindfully curated album.
Can you take group portraits with the family?
Absolutely, we understand that many family members only catch up every so often so the group photos will be treasured.
What does the photography fee normally include?
The photography fee also takes into account the detailed photo processing, for both the web and print ready files and the important curation of the photo album. And together with years of experience for our event photographers in countless indoor and outdoor, small and very large events around Eastern Australia gives you the value add of our unique style.
Common photo packages include; photography, agreed minimum hours, local travel, optional getting ready photos, wall and thank you prints. A favourite of ours is the couples shoot two weeks or so before the wedding, make sure you include this option when your booking in your date retainer for the best rates.
If you’re getting married in 2023 or 2024 and planning a small and intimate wedding, talk to us over a drink or phone call.
