Ultimo is an inner city suburb located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Ultimo is located two kilometres from the southwest of Sydney Central Business District within Sydney’s local government region within Sydney’s City of Sydney.

Broadway Broadway an area that is located around the street with the same name that is situated near the border between Ultimo, Chippendale and Glebe.

The NSW Institute of Technology also was founded as a separate unit within the Technical College. The tower block that dominates the building was built in the 1970s in the vicinity of an former Ultimo fire station. It was transformed into University of Technology, Sydney.

The former Technological Museum changed its name to The Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences after 1945 was rebuilt to become the Powerhouse Museum in the cavernous spaces that were once the former power station in 1988.

It is currently the biggest collection of museums in Australia. Further south to the south along Harris Street is the headquarters of the Australian Broadcasting Commission (ABC). Concerts at the Eugene Goossens Hall and Powerhouse museum exhibits draw Sydneysiders to Ultimo the place that was virtually unknown to the outside world.

The early controversial result of the development that has led to the creation of Darling Harbour entertainment and convention centre, which is located on the site of former railway goods yards.
